You know, in the moment when people may ask of me just what spirituality means for me, a dictionary definition is not what I give to them.
I pause.
For me, spirituality is not something that is found at retreat gatherings or something that is studied in a book.
I found it throughout my everyday moments like when things were confusing or when situations broke me or even when I’m happy. I whisper… “God, I need you and thank you for answering me.”
For me, spirituality represents a very intimate adventure. It is not like a performance.
It’s a relationship.
Knowing that I do not have to carry life alone because God is with me every time, he always has been and he always will be.
There were times I couldn’t pray eloquently. All I could say was “Help me.” And God still heard me. That’s the kind of love your relationship with God through prayers gives you access to. A relationship that doesn’t need a filter or a perfect version of you.
I’ve learned that prayer is not about using fancy words; it’s about honesty.
It’s about laying it all down; the fears, the hopes, the dreams, the pain and knowing you’re not talking to the ceiling. You’re talking to your Creator.
Something changes in you when you do that.
You begin to walk lighter.
You begin to find peace where there was once chaos.
You begin to feel whole even when life is still messy.
That’s spirituality to me.
It’s not a one-time event. It’s a daily choice because in this noisy world, prayer is how I quiet my soul.
When things are broken, God is my healer.
And in all seasons, good or bad; my spirituality keeps me anchored.
So if you’re still figuring it out, welcome!
There’s room for you here! You don’t have to have all the answers.
Just start with a simple prayer:
“God, I want to know You more.”
That one prayer changed everything for me.
God bless you!
